25TH HARMON CUP

FOR DECADES, THE REAL CLUB DE GOLF EL PRAT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST EMBLEMATIC DESTINATIONS FOR GOLF LOVERS IN SPAIN. HOWEVER, ONE OF ITS MOST ENIGMATIC TREASURES HAS BEEN THE HARMON CUP, A PRESTIGIOUS TROPHY WHOSE ORIGIN HAS INTRIGUED GOLFERS AND FANS FOR GENERATIONS.

The Harmon Cup, a masterpiece of goldsmithing, has been the most coveted prize at the Real Club de Golf El Prat since time immemorial. Its elegant design and historical value have made it a unique piece in the world of golf. However, its origin had been a mystery until now. The revelation of the origin of the Harmon Cup has generated renewed interest in the club and its history. Golfers from around the world now have one more reason to visit this beautiful course and compete for the prestigious award, which represents the passion and legacy of Don Francisco Harmon in the world of golf. During the Spanish Civil War, the cup was buried on the 9th green to preserve it and prevent it from being stolen. In this way, the Harmon Cup was saved and can be seen in the showcases of the Real Club de Golf El Prat.

After years of inactivity, the Harmon Cup came back to life in 2012 thanks to the donation of the Cup by Mr. Claudio Güell during the centenary celebration of the Real Club de Golf El Prat. The award evoked feelings of nostalgia and recognition towards the entity and it was then when the Club’s Board decided to include the Harmon Cup in the annual calendar of competitions.

Finally, the team formed by Germán Plaza, Gustavo Martínez, Luís Herrero and Jaume Comas was proclaimed champion of the tournament with 354 net strokes (-6) in handicap category. On the other hand, the team formed by Enrique Martínez, Matoya Rivero, Bruno Rosal and Paco de Pablo finished first in Scratch category with 373 strokes and as guest club, finished in first position the CG Sant Cugat formed by María Cailá, Jorge Knuth, Marc Badesa and Jaume Feixas with 354 net strokes (-6).
