GOLF TEAM

The golf team, formed by Cristina Felip, Dana Helga Puyol, María Piñeiro and Soledad Desvalls and captained by the latter, finished third after beating Puerta de Hierro in the match for third and fourth place (2.5 – 0.5).
The winner of the tournament was the representative of RNCSS Basozabal, who won the title for the third time after defeating the host team on the course of the Real Sociedad de Golf de Neguri (Getxo, Vizcaya). The final was resolved by a 2-1 result of a comeback of the Donostiars in the singles.

Ours couldn’t make it past the semi-finals against Basozabal, who ultimately won the tournament. The club from Gipuzkoa won the direct one with 2,25-0,5. In the foursome match there was a draw that left everything open for the singles. The Basque team had no choice there, Natalia Aseguinolaza overtook Dana Helga Puyol by 2/1, while María Villanueva beat María Piñero by 6/5.
It is worth remembering that this Spanish Interclub Women’s Championship has been held since 1976, a competition where the RCGP won in 1992, 1994 and 2016.

Josep Mª Serra, Puntuable Nacional Juvenil

Josep Mª Serra, Puntuable Nacional Juvenil

On the other hand, the Nacional Puntuable Juvenil of the RFEG, held between February 17 and 18 at Hacienda Riquelme, registered an absolute success of participation and also offered a high level of sportsmanship for the young FCG players in general and one of our youth in particular, Josep Mª Serra, who although a few weeks earlier with 142 strokes took the Punctuable Juvenile Zone played in Golf Costa Dorada, on this occasion managed to stay in third position thanks to his regularity. After two days of 73 and 72 strokes, he ended up with +1 (145 strokes).

The good results led him to enter the call and be part of the male Working Group, the Technical Youth Committee of the RFEGR. The fifteen participants met last weekend in February at the Centro Nacional de Golf in Madrid. It was the second concentration of the year, where the preparation for the season continued. They carried out specific and personalized technical work, as well as evolving in the tasks of distance control with wedges and carrying out a specific putt work. Congratulations!

It is a great pleasure to win, and we are very happy because it is the first tournament of the season,”said Xavi after Adrià closed with 62:” Playing with Adrià was very nice and it was great to learn side by side and do great things.

Two rounds of 63 and 61 were enough to finish with a good lead before the last day, although with some direct rivals relatively close, they knew that it would be necessary to play aggressively:”I had an idea what the winning score could be, because we shared a room with two previous champions,” explained Adrià,”so we kept a total in front of us and tried to make as many birdies as we could,” he said.

Finally, one eagle and three birdies on the nine exteriors, followed by four birdies on the way, led to a pair of 62 and a total of -28. Congratulations, champions!

Mireia Prat returns to Ladies European Tour in her seventh year as a professional

Mireia Prat returns to Ladies European Tour in her seventh year as a professional

The professional has competed in different events in her journey through the antipodes. The Ladies European Tour (LET) will have more tournaments than other years. “It looks like it’s getting better and they want to give us more support. It’s a good time to find that collaborator to help you face the season with more economic peace of mind,”Mireia tells us from Australia.

So our partner returned to the circuit, after recovering the card in 2017. And he did so by starting the season in Australia, where the season has started in recent years, even if it means being many miles from home. The LET kicked off at the Oates Vic Open, a tournament unique in the world where men and women compete on the same routes at the same time, also sharing the prize.

The Prat player overcame the first cut of the season at Canberra Classic, where she signed two laps of 75 and 70 strokes to earn her ticket to the final round held on Sunday 11 February at the Royal Canberra Golf Club, thus entering among the 51 best of the LET.

Then came the third of four trials in Australia, the Ladies Classic Bonville, where Mireia, despite not passing the court was able to enjoy the experience:”I have enjoyed competing on this course, which is a good test for any golfer. I have been able to see what things to keep working, as well as some improvements and positive aspects that encourage me to keep working and be patient. Everything comes “.

Before continuing, he finished the tour in the other side playing NSW Open at Coffs Harbour Golf. After a start with a lot of competition, it is time to continue working and growing to complete one more season, the seventh, at the top of European women’s golf.

Championship. The official pairing competition of the FCG, which took place last weekend in January on the Links tour of Empordà Golf, was decided by a single blow in the men’s category, and three in the women’s category.

The Catalunya Doble Championship, held at the links course of Empordà Golf crowned the new champion couples, in a competition that had two very different days at the climatological level, although all competitors raffled with the greatest hope and desire to make a good result. In the men’s category, final victory for the pair formed by our young Josep Maria Serra and Guillermo Acha (Golf Barcelona), after accumulating a total of 157 strokes, after the 84 of the first day -in difficult conditions with cold and wind-, and the 73 of a sunny Sunday whose good temperature had nothing to do with the previous day. At a single impact, ended the couple formed also by two young members of the Club, Eduard Rousaud and Joel Moscatel), with 158.

In the women’s category, we are also to be congratulated. The title was for our player Dana-Helga Puyol and her partner, Berta Sánchez (La Roca), who, after 79 strokes of the first day, leaving behind all the other competing couples, dedicated Sunday to keep their wide lead, and his return of 80 strokes was enough to take the title, with 159. Three blows left the couple formed by another of our partners, Valeria Biarge and Marta Badía (Costa-Daurada). Congratulations!

GREAT TOURNAMENT OF CARLOS PIGEM IN MYANMAR OPEN

Carlos, top second,  was close to what could have been his second Asian Circuit victory.

The admirable progression on Carlos Pigem’s career was noticed last week in Leopalace21 Myanmar Open + with a score of 70, 67, 68 and 68 strokes to finish -11. He signed 6 birdies (1, 6, 9, 10, 11 and 18) but they were not enough to stop the Australian Todd Sinnott (-14) who surpassed him thanks to his last two rounds of 64 and 65.

LARRAZÁBAL CLOSE TO ACHIVE THE TRIUMPH IN ABU DHABI

LARRAZÁBAL CLOSE TO ACHIVE THE TRIUMPH IN ABU DHABI

Pablo Larrazábal has achieved the first great result of the year in the European Circuit for the Spanish golf; he was second in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, event that marks the beginning of the traditional desert tour of the European Tour. Only the english Tommy Fleetwood could beat the spanish player.

Pablo Larrazabal started the day in fourth position with a single stroke behind leader, who was the English player Tyrrell Hatton. Players like Dustin Johnson or Martin Kaymer were close to the leadership, along with the Spanish, who had more options to ruin the day of the leader.
Pablo showed his best talents around the green on a day that was complicated since early in the morning because of the strong wind and was fighting in the top positions throughout the day.
Pablo needed an eagle in his final hole to push a playoff and although he had to go for a birdie he signed a great tournament to start the year. Remember that Pablo already won this tournament in the 2014 edition.

Larrazabal has been in the top 100 worldwide for more than three years.
